Owls roar to unbeaten season

 

CONCORD — The showdown became a mismatch Thursday night.

In a battle of unbeatens, Timberlane crushed Concord 55-16 to finish its second straight unbeaten season (19-0) and win its 48th straight meet over three seasons and 172nd straight over New Hampshire teams dating back t0 2007.

Owls warm up

 

Timberlane warmed up for Wednesday's battle of unbeatens at Concord with an easy sweep of a home quad-meet. Improving junior Adam Marquis was 3-0 at 152 with two pins to highlight the day for the Owls, who are now 18-0 and have won 171 straight meets in New Hampshire. Nick Pallaria also had a big day with two pins, one coming over Bishop Guertin standout Zach Rioux.

Colon sparks Timberlane

 

PLAISTOW — Heavyweights can often get the crowd going and that was certainly the case Wednesday night at Timberlane.

After Salem's Beau Dillon pinned Chris Lund at 220 pounds to pull the Devils closer at 24-13, it looked like the visitors might have gained some momentum on their way to a possible upset since it had highly regarded heavyweight Josh Ozoria on tap next.

Owls streak now at 44

 

The beat goes on for the Tiberlane wrestling team, even when it seems unlikely.

The Owls swept a quad-meet with Connecticut powers Danbury (50-14) and Xavier (46-22) as well as Nashoba Regional Saturday to improve to 14-0. The Owls have now won 44 straight dual meets, their last loss coming to Danbury in 2017.

Owls 2nd at Sanford

 

Timberlane crowned three champions and placed in 12 events but it wasn't enough to overtake Connecticut power Danbury at the Redskin Invitational in Sanford, Maine.

Danbury, which was New England champion in 2017, surged to 243 points while the Owls came next in the 24-team field with 217.5. Timberlane's B team finished eighth.

Timberlane's wrestling team defeated Londonderry 63-12 to improve to 8-0 and record its 164th straight win over New Hampshire competition, which is three short of what the Owls had originally calculated. Marcus Colon had a 35-second pin at heavyweight to spark the win.

Timberlane in 3rd at Lowell

 

LOWELL — Timberlane's wrestling team stood in third place Thursday after the first day of the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament.

Surprising Springfield Central stands in first with 105 points followed by Concord (95), Timberlane (93.5) and Mount Anthony (90). Windham is in seventh and Pinkerton is eighth. The Astros, however, have the most quarterfinalists of any team with six.
