Colon sparks Timberlane

PLAISTOW — Heavyweights can often get the crowd going and that was certainly the case Wednesday night at Timberlane.

After Salem's Beau Dillon pinned Chris Lund at 220 pounds to pull the Devils closer at 24-13, it looked like the visitors might have gained some momentum on their way to a possible upset since it had highly regarded heavyweight Josh Ozoria on tap next.

But Owls' heavyweight Marcos Colon got a surprising pin late in the first period to give the momentum back to Timberlane, which went on for a 48-19 victory. That put the Owls at 15-0, was their 45th straight win and 168th straight against New Hampshire teams.

"That (heavyweight) was a big match and our crowd went crazy," said Timberlane coach Barry Chooljian. "That was a dagger for them."

Another big win for Timberlane was at 126 when freshman Cody Wild edged George Boudreau 6-4 in a battle of two of the top youngsters in the state and sophomore Jacob Rousseau also recorded a key decision at 113.

A milestone in the meet came at 145 when Timberlane star Connor McGonagle received a forfeit for the school record 184th win of his high school career, one better than Zach Bridson.
