Phillips breaks 4 NE records

The Phillips boys swim team had quite the day in a tri-meet sweep over Loomis and Hopkins, breaking four New England records. Max Hunger set new marks in the 200 freestyle (1:52.90) and the 500 freestyle (4:01.61), Sam Donchi is the new record holder in the 100 backstroke (57.67) and Arnold Su now owns the 100 breaststroke (1:03.91).

Gallagher wins 4

Andrew Gallagher was a part of four wins and Jack Beecher won two individual events as Central Catholic (1-3) earned its first win, downing North Adover. Nicholas Ferrucci won two individual events for the Knights.

Grimard leads the way

Connor Grimard rolled games of 148 and 131 to lead Pinkerton bowling against Bishop Guertin and Hillsboro-Deering. Colby Wong added 123 and 186 performances and captain Bryant Nourse chipped in with a 178 and 170.

Central's Vasquez in third

Central Catholic's Daniel Vasquez led all local placers, taking third in the 500 freestyle (4:43.43) at the Division 1 State Swim Meet.
For Andover, Nikita Orbits placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (55.81) and Kenneth Siu was seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.79).
Haverhill's Daniel McLaughlin was ninth in both the 50 freestyle (22.99) and the 100 freestyle (49.52).

Astros finish 5th

Pinkerton's bowling team struggled to fifth at a meet with Bishop Guertin, Dover, Souhegan and Stevens. The Astros were the 5th seed after a two-game standard ten pin total of 1479, their lowest of the season. Jason Barton rolled games of 160 and 135, Meghan Slater 138 and 128, Matt Gagnon with a season-high of 184 and 146, Bryant Nourse 157 and 149 and Lance Lemieux 137 and 145.

DeRoche on fire


Danny DeRoche won two individual events with excellent times and was on the winning 4x200 freestyle relay team to pace Central Catholic to a 95-83 win over Lowell.

North Andover's swim team fell to Belmont, 91-71, despite a terrific day by David O'Leary. He captured both the 200 IM and the 100 breastsroke and was on the winning 200 medley relay team.

Qian takes four

William Qian won the 200 freestyle (2:00.14) and 100 butterfly (56.09) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay as Andover beat BC High 95-86. Nikita Orbits added wins in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM and also swam on a pair of winning relays.

Triton boys dominate

The Triton boys swimming and diving team cruised to a big win over Ipswich in Monday's season-opener, winning 61-23. Grayson Fountain and Josh Thibeau each won four events, with both winning two individual events each while also leading the 200 medley and 200 free relays to first place finishes. Owen Brosch and Alex Kelleher also won individual events and took part in multiple winning relays as well.
