Brien breaks Triton record

The Triton swimming records have been changing quite frequently this winter.

After Sam Whitaker broke the school's 200 freestyle record earlier in the season, Henry O'Brien came out on Wednesday at set a new record pace in 1:56.15. That time qualified Brien for the state tournament, broke Whitaker's time (1:58.81) by over two seconds and helped the Vikings win their dual meet against Ipswich, 64-45.

Campbell, Malinovski take four

Henry Campbell won the 200 IM (2:04.92) and 500 freestyle (5:01.75), Matvey Malinovski took the 200 freestyle (1:47.78) and 100 freestyle (49.18)and they teamed with Ivan Giles and Eric Xu to win the 200 freestyle and Will Moulson and Scott Kessel to take the 400 freestyle relay as Andover topped Lexington 95-81.

Hillies win first


Haverhill's boys swim team won its first meet of the season, 101-61 over Lowell. Casey Connors and Dan McLaughlin both won individual events and were on two winning relay teams.

Londonderry's White takes two thirds

It was a good day for Londonderry's Brandon White at Saturday's Division 1 state swimming meet.

The junior took thirds in both the 50 freestyle (22.86) and 100 freestyle (50.02) to help the Lancers take eighth as a team with 87 points, and he also swam a leg on both the fifth-place 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Haverhill's Dan McLaughlin swam to victory in the 50 freestyle (22.30) and 100 backstroke (57.81) to lead all local competitors at the Merrimack Valley Conference swim Championship.

Phillips breaks 4 NE records

The Phillips boys swim team had quite the day in a tri-meet sweep over Loomis and Hopkins, breaking four New England records. Max Hunger set new marks in the 200 freestyle (1:52.90) and the 500 freestyle (4:01.61), Sam Donchi is the new record holder in the 100 backstroke (57.67) and Arnold Su now owns the 100 breaststroke (1:03.91).

Andrew Gallagher was a part of four wins and Jack Beecher won two individual events as Central Catholic (1-3) earned its first win, downing North Adover. Nicholas Ferrucci won two individual events for the Knights.
