Windham rally falls short

Windham nearly overcame a 20-point deficit as its third quarter rally pulled the Jaguars to within single-digits.  Windham (13-10), seeded ninth in the Division 2 tourney, closed the gap to three midway through the  fourth quarter but could not get any closer in a 61-55 loss to No. 1 Souhegan (19-0).

Finishing at the line

Clairee Putnam knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game, Kelsey Schiebel hit two from the line to give Windham the lead and Kerry White blocked a shot and, with two seconds left, iced the game with two free throws to give the No. 9 Jaguars a 60-56 win over No. 8 Portsmouth in the first round of the New Hampshire Division 2 tourney.

Amanda Schiebel and her twin sister Kelsey each pumped in 11 points and Clairee Putnam led all scorers with 16 to lift Windham past Portsmouth, 57-44. Brianna Angelini came off the bench to grab 12 rebounds.

Windham had a superlative night from the charity stripe, hitting on 27 of 30 attempts in a 60-43 defeat of Coe-Brown. Sophomore Kelsey Schiebel (19 points) was a perfect 10 for 10 from the line and freshman Brianna Angelini came off the bench to contribute 13 points.

Amanda Schiebel scored all six of her points in the first quarter alone as Windham girls basketball jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one period and went on to win 52-25. Ashley Adamson, meanwhile, scored a game high 13 points for Winham (7-8).
