Methuen hangs on for win

Methuen held on for a 56-54 victory against Greater Lawrence, which stormed back after being down by 12 points entering the fourth quarter. Donald Celestin poured in 15 in the fourth to help the the Reggies tie the game. But Methuen's Cal Carroll hit two free throws to give his team the lead. Greater Lawrence took one final shot but it fell no good.

 HAVERHILL — In one of the highest scoring games in the region in area history, Whittier held off Greater Lawrence 92-81.

Moreno on fire

Junior Melvin Moreno continued his hot shooting with a season-high 14 points including four 3-pointers as Greater Lawrence dumped Northeast 66-46. This was his third double-figure game in his last four outings. Donald Celestin led all scorers with 27 points. Freshman Xavier Torries came off the bench with 11 points and Oscar Gutierrez also shined off the bench. The Reggies outscored Northeast 23-4 in the third quarter to assume control of the game.

Pinkerton rallies past Reggies late

LAWRENCE — Pinkerton trailed much of the way but outscored Greater Lawrence 17-6 in the final quarter to capture the seventh-place game 60-51.

Sophomore forward Chris Light scored all eight of his points in the fourth while big men Zach Mathieu (19), Ben Proulx (12) and Alex Patrikis (12) combined for 43 points.
