BOSTON — Andover’s Maggie Mullins had a goal to run the 2-mile in under 10:50 at All-States yesterday.

There was only one problem: Her nerves got the better of her.

Mullins was the top seed in the event, with a personal best time (10:51.04) that is just shy of North Andover great Kirsten Kasper’s three-year-old area record of 10:48.68.

Pentucket's Ali Attenasio had a personal-best 9.31 in the 55 hurdles to place seventh in the Division 3 state meet at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Sachem girls also received the Joan Doherty State team sportsmanship Award

ROXBURY — North Andover, which went unbeaten in the regular season, rallied to win the Cape Ann League Meet by placing second in the final event, the 4x400 relay.

Trailing Hamilton-Wenham by 4.5 points, Eleni Coufos, Carrie Manteiga, Danielle Coskren and Mikayla Guthrie combined for a 4:23.78 clocking and vaulted the Knights to the championship.

Pentucket's Molly Smith, Rachel Perry, Ali Attenasio and Chase Marcotte placed fifth in the shuttle hurdles with a time of 32.88 at the Division 3 relays at the Reggie Lewis Center. Pentucket's Liz Beauregard, Brianna Repke, Emma Marchant and Kelsey Pratt qualified for states in the 4x800 with a 10:30.83. Marisa Lundy, Colleen Kilian, Tori Spofford and Charlotte Merritt qualified for states in the 4x200 with a 1:55.47.

Kelsey Pratt ran a personal best 5:56.52 in the mile to win the event but Pentucket girls track lost 49-37 to Ipswich.

As part of a 49-37 track victory over Lynnfield, Pentucket freshmen Paige Wesolowski (600) and Brianna Repke (1000) posted times that qualified them for the CAL meet. Despite only four victories, the Sachems placed 17 point scorers out of 22 spots for the team win.

 North Andover won its opener over Pentucket, 50-36. Alexa Duffy (dash) and Julia Mehlman (high jump) each won an individual event and ran on the winning relay.
