ROXBURY — North Andover, which went unbeaten in the regular season, rallied to win the Cape Ann League Meet by placing second in the final event, the 4x400 relay.

Trailing Hamilton-Wenham by 4.5 points, Eleni Coufos, Carrie Manteiga, Danielle Coskren and Mikayla Guthrie combined for a 4:23.78 clocking and vaulted the Knights to the championship.

North Andover finished with 67 points to edge Hamilton-Wenham (63.5) and Masconomet (61).

“Obviously it’s great to win both (regular season and CAL Meet),” said Knights coach Rick DelleChiaie, who was named CAL Large Coach of the Year. “There is never a guarantee to win both. It’s a different meet with different scoring. It shows our versatility as a team.”

Julia Mehlman had a big night at the Reggie Lewis Track with wins in the dash and 4x200 (along with Dana McManus, Alexa Duffy and Guthrie) and a fifth in the high jump.

McManus also had a second in the 300 with a school record 43.34 and her cousin, Katie McManus, was second in the shot put. Eleni Coufos was the runner-up in the 600.

DelleChiaie pointed out some crucial fifths and sixths that made all the difference.

Jenna Swadel posted a 10-second personal best to take fifth in the 1,000 and Julia Varoutsos improved by nine seconds to place sixth in the mile. Carrie Manteiga (300) and Kathryn McFadden (hurdles) also recorded surprising sixth-place finishes.

North Reading was led by shot put champion Emily Murray (32-8 1/2) while Pentucket got a second from Ali Attenasio in the 55-meter hurdles (9.32).
