NASHUA | Alex Theodhosi will harbor both bitter and fond memories of yesterday's game.

He and his Londonderry teammates had guts, but it still wasn't enough.

"We just ran out of time at the end," the senior running back said after the Lancers fell to Nashua South, 35-31, in the Division 1 semifinals at Stellos Stadium yesterday.

Theodhosi rushed for a career-high 332 yards on 36 carries, rumbling his way to two touchdowns, including a 58-yard score that gave Londonderry a short-lived 31-27 lead at 9:12 in the fourth quarter.

"We knew it wouldn't be over," Theodhosi said. "Things just didn't happen for us at the end."

The Lancers, who advanced to the playoffs for the second straight season, allowed the game-winning touchdown with six minutes remaining.

Theodhosi finished the season with 2,041 yards. Since the Eagle-Tribune began keeping complete records in 1995, no back had gone over 2,000 yards in a season before this year. Yesterday, Theodhosi and Greater Lawrence Technical School's Nate Adames both eclipsed the mark.

Yesterday would've been better, Theodhosi said, "If I had 60 yards and we won. But it was a good afterthought."

Coach Tom Sawyer addressed the team at the end of the game, complimenting his players on their valiant effort. But, Theodhosi said, "It would've been a lot sweeter if we won."
