After four wins in a row, the Newburyport boys hockey team played Masconomet to a 3-3 draw on Saturday. The Clippers charged back with three third period tallies, including the final goal with just 1:29 left in the game to earn the tie.

Masconomet got on the board first with 5:12 left in the first frame. With 9:21 to go in the third, the Chieftains extended it to a 2-0 lead. About 30 seconds later, Cole Spence found the net for the Clippers to cut the deficit in half for the first Clips goal of the day.

That's when the Clips' found their scoring touch. With 3:39 to go, Jason Grossi-Hogg took a pass from Declan Sullivan to tie the game.

Two minutes later, Masco took a late 3-2 lead, but the Clippers weren't done, either.

Just 20 seconds after the go-ahead tally from the Chieftains, Ethan Coir scored to preserve a hard-fought tie for the Clippers.

Now 5-1-3 on the season, the Clippers differential at 24 goals scored and 15 against has drastically improved over the past five-game stretch, not losing since December 23 against Franklin.
