The quartet helped the Sachems take third overall as a team with 40 points, trailing just Nauset (51) and Melrose (49). Kvaternik, who was the top sophomore, in the race, was sixth in 19:57.55 on Wrentham's 5K course with teammate Abby Mastromonaco taking 12th. The Knights were just 19 points out of second place despite missing Courtney Dalke, who was at a band concert.
Read More »The Newburyport girls volleyball team edged out Ipswich in a thrilling, back-and-forth match on Friday night, winning 3-2 after narrowly taking the decisive fifth-set. Sydney Yim led the Clippers with nine kills and Abigail Gillingham had seven blocks as Newburyport lost the first set 25-23, won the next two 25-19 and 25-21, and lost the fourth set 25-23 before winning the winner-take-all fifth 15-13. Newburyport is now 1-1 to start the year and is at Triton on Tuesday.
