NORTH ANDOVER — The streak continued for the Brooks boys' basketball team Wednesday afternoon, but it didn't come easily.
Behind 25 points from Brian Wright-Kinsey and 16 from Preston Santos, Brooks held off pesky Beaver Country Day, 60-56, in the quarterfinals of the New England Class B tournament for its 64th straight victory.
It was the closest game of the season for the Green and White, which is now 24-0 on the year.
"It wasn't easy," said Brooks coach John McVeigh. "They were hitting some incredible shots early and our free throw shooting at the end didn't help us."
Beaver Country Day (17-9) held the lead early but a 10-0 spurt put Brooks ahead 34-28 at the half. But Beaver, behind the shooting and 25 points of Jayden DePina, who is the sone of former South Boston/UMass star Jonathan DePina stayed close in the second half.
Ahead 50-48 with three minutes remaining, Santos made what was the biggest play of the game when he stole the ball and charged the length of the court for a dunk.
