After watching an 11-point halftime lead evaporate during Methuen’s 21-point third quarter, Pinkerton converted five of six free throws in the fourth period for a 47-44 victory in the fifth-place game.
Kayla Stacy scored seven of her 13 points in the final period to pace the Astros (5-1) while Abby Galloway-Burke led the Rangers (1-4) with 18, including 14 after intermission.
Methuen might have pulled off the upset if it didn’t miss 10 of its 14 free throw tries.
