Rough second period dooms Windham in quarterfinals

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Windham matched Bedford shot for shot in the first period, and controlled play for nearly the entire third. But the middle period doomed the Jaguars.

No. 2 Bedford struck for all five of its goals in the second period, on the way to defeating  No. 7 Windham 5-2 in the Division 1 quarterfinals on Saturday at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College.

Mancini near-flawless

Bobby DiCicco and Mike Montanile scored to give Windham a 2-0 lead. Vito Mancini (16 saves) made sure it held up as the 7th-seeded Jaguars topped No. 10 Nashua North-Souhegan, 2-1, in the Division 1 tourney first round. Windham will play No. 2 Bedford Saturday (1 p.m., at St. Anselm) in the quarterfinals.

Tommy Langlois had a hat trick and Aiden Gravell also scored as Windham defeated Bow 4-1. The Jaguars improved to 10-7 in New Hampshire.

Drouin scores winner in final moments, Pinkerton holds off Windham

SALEM, N.H. — Mason Drouin watched the play unfold in front of him, and when it was his chance to strike, the Pinkerton senior was ready.

 “My brother (Hunter Drouin) passed the puck up to Ethan Burgess, and he tried to get past a guy,” said Mason. “I just trailed him to see if the puck would come free. It did, so I shot it, and it went in. It was so exciting.”
