In an intense matchup between two bitter River Rivals, Pentucket prevailed over Newburyport, 17-13.

For Pentucket Zoe McKenzie had two goals and one assist, K.C. Jones had two goals and four assists, Sarah Evers had one goal and four assists, Brianna Yocum had three goals and one assist, Sarah Galligan had four goals and four assists, Kayla Jewett had three goals and one assist, Autumn Gadd had a goal, Vanessa Cahill had a goal and an assist, and Calley Jocum had an assist.

Masco rolls again

The Chieftains (8-1, 8-0 CAL) racked up 20 goals for the fourth straight game in rolling by Newburyport 25-8. Sydney Godett led the onslaught with six goals and four assists while Brittany Fraser and Kathleen Ragan added four goals each. Madeline Hardy added a hat trick and Maura Brazel was the table-setter with a goal and five helpers as Masco held a commanding 16-4 lead at the break and the second half was academic.

Masco downs Triton

Maura Brazel scored six goals and Sydney Godett added five more as the Chieftains (7-1) had too much offense for Newburyport to handle in a 24-13 triumph. Margeaux Guercia and Madeline Hardy recorded hat tricks while Kathleen Ragan also had three goals along with two assists. Meanwhile, Heather Fraser had two scores and four helpers and Brittany Fraser added a goal with five assists to help pace a balanced Masco attack.

Although talk of a coronation might be premature, the Royals' leading lady and top scorer, Shannon Hartford, certainly looks to be one of the top Cape Ann League talents, amassing 46 points thus far after notching another seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) in yesterday's 10-7 win over Newburyport.

Manchester Essex girls lax team earns first win over Newburyport

The Manchester Essex girls lacrosse team registered their first win of the season yesterday and every player saw playing time in the 12-5 victory over Newburyport.

Senior Molly Osborne netted a hat trick, while sophomore Hillary Doucette, Amanda Azadian and Shane Gordon added two goals each. Goalie Vicky Grimes played well in net for the Hornets (1-2), making 12 saves.
