Crowell brothers spark Pinkerton

LONDONDERRY — It’s not easy being the younger brother of one of the best wrestlers in New England, but Pinkerton freshman Cam Crowell is learning to adjust quite nicely.

Cam, whose older brother Collin is a returning New England placer and has lost just one match all year, wrestled a solid six minutes to earn a 4-2 decision at 189 pounds over Londonderry’s Mack Douglas to cap off the Astros’ 42-29 victory.

Owls eclipse Astros

Shaking off a spate of Pinkerton decisions in the middle weights, Timberlane rode commanding victories to a 49-18 victory. Matt Morris earned Wrestler of the Meet honors at 130 pounds by trouncing Dave Owens, 13-0. Will Smith was also impressive with a technical fall at 112 pounds. Daniel Barker (135) and Collin Crowell (145) had pins for the Astros.

Owls in the lead

By placing 12 of 14 wrestlers in this morning's quarterfinals, Timberlane ended the first day in first place at the Lowell Holiday George Bossi Tournament.

The Owls have 127 points with Shawsheen Tech next at 111. Lawrence is fifth in the 60-team field and Central Catholic is in 10th.

Salem's no lightweight

Winning five of the seven lighter weight matches led Salem to a solid early-season victory over Pinkerton, 42-33. Jon Rheaume (112 pounds) had one of five pins overall for the Blue Devils, winning at 112 pounds. David Owens (135) and Collin Crowell shined for the Astros.
