No. 8 North Andover closed out its season with a 2-0 loss to top-seeded Concord-Carlisle in the Division 2 North quarterfinals.

"We possessed the ball for nearly three quarters of the game," said Scarlet Knights coach Bill Tarbox. "We had good scoring chances, but we just couldn't take advantage." Ross Marchand and John Carney stood out on defense while Cannon Moltz and Drew Pickul performed well on the midfield for North Andover.

One goal was all North Andover needed yesterday to edge O'Bryant 1-0 in the first round of the Division 2 North Tournament.

"We had plenty of chances, we pretty much dominated, but we just couldn't find the back of the net," said North Andover coach Bill Tarbox. "We hit the goalpost and shot over the net, and their goalie kept us at bay."

Bill Tarbox's recent 58th birthday dinner involved more soccer talk than pizza consumption.

Among all the analysis and strategy, the group found time to take bites. But not many.

"My mom (Gail) and my wife (Ruth) have to put up with a lot," said Fred Tarbox, Bill's son. "All we talk about is soccer. It's constant."

Michael Sachs took a pass from Gareth Dudney in the ninth minute and scored the only goal of the game for North Andover in a 1-0 defeat of previously unbeaten Wilmington. Goalie Michael Levy reported four crucial saves.

Gareth Dudney took a pass from Bryan Hickey and scored 15 minutes into the second half to give North Andover a 1-0 win over Georgetown. Dan Klisiewicz made nine saves for the Scarlet Knights while Evan Weagle made 12 for the Royals.

Jorge Nunez scored twice and Gareth Dudney added a pair of assists as North Andover cruised past Amesbury 4-0. Kris Hopkins and Ryan Sifferlen scored the other goals for the Knights (6-4-1).

North Andover freshman forward Ryan Boudreau had to be immobilized and carried off the field in an ambulance after suffering an apparent upper leg injury in a 4-3 Scarlet Knight loss to Rockport. After the injury, which caused roughly a 30-minute delay, Rockport scored three goals in the first six minutes.

North Andover was able to contain Lynnfield star forward Mike Kennedy as the Scarlet Knights prevailed, 2-0. Jay Marchand and Drew Pickul did a great job marking Kennedy while Jorge Nunez and Gareth Dudney scored the goals for North Andover (4-3-1). Scarlet Knights goalie Dan Klisiewicz made nine saves while Kyle Medolo added an assist and Ryan Boudreau played well in the midfield.

Hamilton-Wenham picked up a 2-1 win over North Andover. Joe Savasta and John Britton scored for the Generals, who got a solid performance from Jackson MacDonald in net.

Masconomet beat North Andover 1-0. Brad McDonald scored the only goal for the Chieftains. Ali Olia played well on offense while Andrew Panella had a strong defensive game.
