One goal was all North Andover needed yesterday to edge O'Bryant 1-0 in the first round of the Division 2 North Tournament.
"We had plenty of chances, we pretty much dominated, but we just couldn't find the back of the net," said North Andover coach Bill Tarbox. "We hit the goalpost and shot over the net, and their goalie kept us at bay."
The Knights will need to be more accurate tomorrow when they go on the road to face No. 1-seed Concord-Carlisle (17-0-2). "We'll have to play smart, defend and make the most of our chances when they come up," said Tarbox.
After a scoreless first half, North Andover (12-6-1) finally got the goal it needed with 13 minutes remaining when freshman Jay Marchand took the ball down the side and made a nifty crossing pass to sophomore Gareth Dudney, who one-timed it into the net.
Playing well for North Andover were midfielders Ryan Tepperman and Michael Sachs as well as forward Jorge Nunez.
