Ranger rebound

Methuen's softball team, which struggled last week, whipped a strong Chelmsford club 15-0 in six innings on Senior Night to improve to 13-5 entering the Methuen Tournament this weekend. Rebecca Armstrong was 3 for 5 with five RBIs and winning pitcher Sarra Bergeron, who threw a three-hitter, was also 3 for 5 with three RBIs. Abbey Carbonneau was 3 for 4 and scored twice.

Chelmsford 11, Andover 7

Eight Chelmsford runs in the middle innings created too much of a gap for Andover to overcome, eventually falling, 11-7. Freshman Molly Awiszus had two hits and four runs batted in from the ninth spot in the Golden Warrior lineup and seventh hitter Megan Pettoruto had three hits and an RBI.

Nearly perfection

Central Catholic sophomore Meg Donegan had a perfect game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh at Chelmsford before a bloop single ruined a tremendous performance. That turned out to be the only baserunner against Donegan, who struck out six, in Central's 6-1 victory. Kayla Maloney had a home run for the Raiders and Donegan also had an RBI ands scored a run.
