Andrade leads Salem

 

Salem scored three runs in the first inning and then rode the arm of junior Camryn Hanninen to a 4-0 victory over Manchester Central, sending the Blue Devils (18-20 to Tuesday's semifinals, where it will face Spaulding at Southern New Hampshire University.

Senior-Day Special

Senior Seanna Cloutier celebrated her senior day by blasting a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning in Salem's 9-3 victory over Dover. Sophomore Victoria Andrade went 3 for 3 with two singles, a double and three RBI's. The Blue Devils will be the two-seed in the Division 1 State Tournament.

Huge rally for Blue Devils

With the game tied going into the seventh inning, Ashley Conway drove in the go-ahead run with a single and Victoria Andrade singled home two insurance runs to send Salem to a 5-1 win over Alvirne. Mikayla Pacy added an RBI, scored a run and from her shortstop position made two stellar snags to start a pair of double plays and keep the Blue Devils in the game.

Salem stunned

 

Bedford scored three times in the first inning and held on to stun Salem 3-2 in softball. Brooke Murphy continued her terrific year with two hits, two RBIs and a great defensive play in the field for the Blue Devils (12-2).

Herchenroder lifts Owls over unbeaten Salem

SALEM — In a battle of two of New Hampshire's best softball programs, a seemingly harmless pop fly to left field turned out to be the biggest play of the game.

Lauren Herchenroder approached the plate with one out in the top of the seventh, a runner on second and her Timberlane Owls down a run to unbeaten Salem. Herchenroder got under a pitch from Salem starter Camryn Hanninen, skying it to left where it looked as though it would be easily caught by Salem's Alexa Pacy. Forunately for the Owls a gust of wind came at the right time, sending Pacy farther and farther back until she crashed into the left field fence as the ball landed on the other side.

Leadoff batter Brooke Murphy was 3 for 3 with a triple and scored four runs as Salem stayed unbeaten (9-0) with a 14-0 rout of Merrimack. Meghan O'Brien threw a one-hitter in five innings, striking out six, for the win.

In a 13-0, 5-inning win over BG, Salem's Ashley Conway slugged her second two-run homer in the last two games. Camryn Hanninen hurled four innings of 1-hit ball. Holly Peterson drove in five runs.

By routing Keene 17-0, Salem's softball team (6-0) ranks as the only unbeaten Division 1 team in the state. Six players had at least two hits in the romp and Ashley Conway had a two-run homer.
