Whittier scored twice in the second inning and two more in the third on its way to a 5-0 victory over Northeast in its Division 3 North opener. Nicole Verrette got the win with a 3-hitter, striking out seven. Kayle Hobbs had a two-run double and Eliza Slocum was 2 for 2 with an RBi for the Wildcats (20-2).

Emily Ziens hit a game-tying grand slam in the fifth inning and picked up the win on the mound as Greater Lawrence beat Northeast 9-6. Greater Lawrence has now qualified for the state tournament for the fourth time in the last five years.

Winning pitcher Emily Viens returned from two weeks off with a hip injury and, along with several of her Greater Lawrence teammates, put on a hitting display by slugging two home runs over the fence, going 4 for 5 overall and driving in a stunning nine runs in a 16-8 romp over Northeast. Ariana Cruz led off the game with a long home run  and was also 4 for 5 and Venecia Perez joined them with four hits in five at-bats in a 22-hit explosion.

Whittier freshmen Kyleigh-Jo Campbell went 2 for 4 with two RBI's in the team's 13-5 win over Northeast. Campbell is now hitting an impressive .389 on the season, and has driven in 12 runs.
