The Fishermen received a solid start from pitcher Jill Lukegord, good defense and a number of tough at-bats against one of the Northeastern Conference's top pitchers in Kristen Finn. Gloucester even entered the seventh inning with a one-run lead.

The Fishermen hit the road to take on a Vikings team that went 14-6 last year. However, the visitors were able to outlast Winthrop in an 11-inning marathon, 9-6, improving to 3-0 on the season. Gloucester put the game away in the top of the 11th when Olivia Frontiero knocked in two runs with a double to make it 8-6. Ali Kippen, who had homered in the 10th, then singled in Frontiero for an insurance run.
