Pentucket 10, Charlestown 0

Pat Beaton was a one-man gang in Pentucket's 10-0 win over Charlestown. He got the win with six innings of three-hit ball and also contributed four hits and four runs. Ryan Kuchar drove in three runs.

Sachems prevail

 

Ryan Kuchar shut the door after the third inning and Pentucket's baseball team rallied for a 3-2 victory in eight innings over Stoneham in the Division 3 North prelims. The Sachems got the winning run when Jon Sirois (2 for 3) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Kuchar finished with a four-hitter, striking out nine, and not allowing a hit pver the last five innings.

Squeeze play

Bobby Hallowell's squeeze bunt in the top of the eighth plated Jon Sirois and Pentucket beat Hamilton-Wenham 2-1. Ryan Kuchar got the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.

North Reading 12, Pentucket 9

Ryan Sanborn's huge afternoon, with four hits and four RBIs, helped power North Reading in a 12-9 shootout with Pentucket. Keith Linnane drove in three for the winners. Leadoff man Pat Beaton had three hits and drove in a pair for the Sachems.

Streaking Sachems

Pentucket baseball punched its ticket to the state tournament with a 10-4 win against Newburyport. The Sachems have won nine of their last eleven games after starting the season 1-4. John Sirois had five RBI for the winners.

Game-saver

 

Pentucket right fielder John Sirois had a game-saving diving catch in the bottom of the seventh and then helped the cause in the top of the eighth with a suicide bunt as Pentucket defeated Lynnfield 4-2 in eight innings. Ryan Kuchar went 7 1/3 innings for the win and Bobby Barry came in to strike out two batters in the eighth for the save. He was also 2 for 4 at the plate.

Pentucket wins walk-off

Pentucket's first win of the young season came via the walk-off, 2-1, in innings vs. Triton. Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Dylan Wright singled, stole second, moved to third on Ryan Kuchar's infield out then raced home with the game-winner on a wild pitch. Pat Beaton earned the win for sure, going all nine innings and allowing only four hits with no walks. He fanned seven.

Allen outduels Kuchar in classic

In the marquee pitching matchup of the Cape Ann League weekend, North Reading's Scott Allen outdueled Pentucket's Ryan Kuchar, 1-0.
The Hornets picked up the only run in the second when Colby Maiola singled, stole second and raced in on Allen's base hit.
From there, it was pitching perfection on both sides. Allen grabbed his first win of the year with a three-hitter, striking out four. Kuchar fanned nine in his six frames, allowing just four hits.
