Brooks beat #1 seeded Kent’s Hill to win the New England Piatelli-Simmons Tournament Championship today. It is the first New England Championship in the history of Brooks boys hockey.

Surging Brooks

 

The Brooks boys hockey team continued to surge, blanking Middlesex 4-0 in the New England Prep semifinals. Brooks once again showed good balance with Connor Moore netting a goal and an assist. It will play in the semifinals at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Icenter in Salem against a team to be determined today.

Collins honored

 

Merrimack College junior forward Mike Collins has been named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Jon Swavely of Maine.   Collins led the Warriors on Friday night to the 3-2 victory over No. 4 UNH with two goals, an assist,  his fifth three-point game of the season. The junior has nine points in his last five conference games and has racked up a team-high 25 points in 16 conference matchups. His 1.56 points per game in conference play is tops in Hockey East. Merrimack (10-10-5, 8-6-2 HEA) will return home  Friday to take on the  UMass Lowell RiverHawks at 7 p.m.

Ian Speliotis netted three goals as Brooks routed Pingree 7-1.

Max Shusterman, Greg Conrad, Eliot Heher and Vito Bavaro also scored for Brooks, which outshot Pingree 55-10.
