Georgetown lost a tight Spofford Tourney finale to Triton, 3-1. The Royals scored their lone run in the fifth inning when pitcher Pat Slack singled, Tyler Wade had a bunt base hit and Colby Ingraham followed with a ringing single to right field.

Sachems Stymied

The task was steep for Pentucket, staring down the barrel of Blaise Whitman's fastballs with a share of the CAL Large title there for the taking. Triton's Whitman proved too tough, though, slamming the door in a two-hitter as the Vikes upset Pentucket, 4-0. With the Sachem loss, North Andover claimed sole possession of the CAL Large baseball title. Corey McNamara broke up Whitman's no-hit bid with a solid single in the sixth.

Pair pitches in

Under tough playing conditions in Byfield, pitchers Ryan McAuliffe and Ryan Boucher shined as North Reading blanked Triton, 10-0. Neither hurler yielded a walk and held the host Vikings to just four hits. Mike Brandano came through offensively for the Hornets with two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Tyler Leavitt pitched all seven innings and got stronger as the game went on. He struck out the final five batters to lead North Andover baseball 7-1 over Triton.

Sophomore Bobby Barry slapped a pair of ground-rule doubles to help lift Pentucket over Triton, 11-1. Corey McNamara dominated the Vikes on the hill, striking out a dozen over six strong innings.

Whittier's baseball team continued to roll, blasting Triton 11-1. Paul Mahoney threw a nifty two-hitter, striking out 11, and the Wildcats (5-0) pulled away with a seven-run second inning highlighted by a Brian Vezina (2 for 4) triple and a three-run double by Andrew Wells (3 for 4).

Walk-off win

After Triton rallied with two runs to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning, Stas Firek spanked a single that scored Jon DelaCruz with the game-winner as Haverhill prevailed, 7-6. DelaCruz had three hits including a home run, four RBIs and a stolen base in the victory.
