Haverhill's volleyball team ended the regular season undefeated (18-0), but it wasn't easy, edging Andover  3-2. James Murray and Drew Caruso both had 17 kills for the Hillies to offset the 33 kills of Andover's Joe Kuykendall and Zach Sindoni piled up 46 assists.

Lawrence outlasted Andover

Reibin Hiraldo scored 12 service points and 38 assists as Lawrence held off upset-minded Andover 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-11. Anibal Henriquez added 15 kills and seven digs for the winners, while Joe Kuykendall continued to star for the Golden Warriors with 35 kills and 18 digs.

Lowell 3, Andover 1

With strong passing and defense, Lowell had just enough answers to equalize Andover's power game and take a tight 3-1 volleyball contest. Joseph Kuykendall (34 kills and 24 digs) was his usual force at the net in the setback and sophomore Kenny Doherty (seven blocks) stepped up strong for the Warriors.

St. John's Prep 3, Andover 0

A big positive may have come out of Andover's 3-0 loss to powerful St. John's Prep in the form of Jonah Adler.

The senior "stepped up his game" according to head coach Dave Kuykendall, showing relentless hustle that moved him from a front-row only player to competing all over the court. Adler was 5 of 5 serving, adding two blocks and a kill, but what impressed were his intangibles.

Machado man

Senior Eduardo Machado had a huge all-around, keying Andover's volleyball win over Lexington. Machado, on a college visit to RPI, raced back just in time to make the match and lift the Warriors. "We weren't sure if he was going to make it back, and if he doesn't make it back, we don't win, simple as that," said coach David Kuykendall of the effort.
