Tight loss for Hillies

Chelmsford won the rubber match and eliminated Haverhill from the Division 1 North tennis tourney, 3-2. Meghan Cokely had a shutout at first singles and Meghan Wrenn bounced back for a convincing three-set victory at second singles, while juniors Heather Pearson and Jenna Ranzo dropped a tight 6-4, 6-4 decision at first doubles for the Hillies.

49 and counting for Carroll

Jackie Carroll breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep yesterday as Central Catholic defeated Chelmsford, 3-2.  Carroll's streak of 49-straight dates back to the first match of her freshman year. Carroll will compete in today's Division 1 Individual tourney,at Lexington, vs. Concord-Carlisle's No. 1 single player.

The Northern Essex baseball team won its 16th straight game and 24th of the season, 12-8 over Dean College. Domingo Cruz led the way, going 3 for 5 with a triple and four RBIs, while Keegan Pafford was 2 for 3 with two walks.
