Rangers tourney bound

Matt Bauchman recorded a hat truck and Jared McAdam scored two goals as Methuen clinched a spot in the state tourney with a 7-2 drubbing of Somerville. Jordan Blatti and Dylan Yameen each added a goal and an assist for the Rangers, who made their first postseason appearence in 10 years in 2010.

TJ Gannon scored twice and Methuen's defense held strong in the final five minutes of a wild 6-5 win over Haverhill. Curt Leblanc, Matt Bauchman, Cam Adeksa and Jared McAdam also scored for Methuen.

Pivotal win

 

Methuen's hockey team (7-7-3), which is scratching its way toward a playoff berth, won a pivotal 4-2 victory over Concord-Carlisle. Matt Bauchman, the No. 2 scorer in the area, had two goals and scored twice and defenseman Justin O'Connor and Tom Couture played well.

Ranger revenge

Led by four goals from junior Matt Bauchman, Methuen avenged last year's shutout loss to Bedford by piling up a 6-1 victory. Coach Denny Egan was happy with the strong team play, noting that "(goalie) Cam Conway would make a good save, the defense would start the break and the offense finished. We played very well together."

Cannata cited

 

 

Hobey Baker candidate Joe Cannata of Merrimack College was named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season as the Warriors moved up to sixth in the USCHO National poll. Cannata stopped 63 of 67 shots on the weekend, including 39 (five in overtime) in Saturday’s 2-2 tie with Maine. The senior netminder became the program’s all-time leader in Division I history with 2,698 career saves, passing Joe Exter.
