LANGDON, N.H. — For the first time since the rebirth of Sanborn football (in 2008), the Indians enjoyed the bus ride home.
A defensive stop on a two-point conversion with 1:38 to play secured Sanborn's 20-18 win over Fall Mountain, last night. Danny Perrault, Glen Smith and Dane Sargent each took part in the stop, helping Sanborn improve to 2-2.
It was their first road win since the Indians revived the program.
"We came out strong and battled through adversity during a penalty-filled third quarter," said Sanborn head coach Mike Drouin. "We just regrouped and focused."
Two first-quarter touchdown runs by junior back Glen Smith (1 yard and 59 yards) paced Sanborn to a 14-6 lead after the first quarter.
The Indians upped that lead to 20-6 at the break following a 34-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Morris to Dylan Spence.
Fall Mountain responded with a pair of second-half touchdowns, but failed on the two-point conversion each time.
Sanborn returns home on Friday, for its first ever home night football game.
