The Sachems (6-7-4) extended their winning streak to four games | all of which were absolutely necessary to keep the squad from falling out of contention for a state tournament berth. Brian Cormier and Evan Miller scored Pentucket's goals. Jamie Costello had an assist. Sachems coach Christian Langlois credited Jack Kern for his defensive play.
"He blocked two shots where players were wide open in front of the net," Langlois said. "He blocked them by throwing his body in front of the ball, and it saved the game."
Pentucket can clinch a tournament berth with a victory against Triton tomorrow (3:45 p.m., Pentucket Regional).
"The four in a row doesn't matter unless we get five," Langlois said. "It's all for naught if we don't win (tomorrow)."
