Brooks, Rivers

For the first time since prior to Eagle-Tribune sports recordkeeping, Brooks is 4-0.  The Green and White earned its fourth win with a 30-27 decision over Rivers.

Brooks entered the fourth quarter down by seven (21-14) but put up 16 points that went unanswered until teh game's final play.

"It was last year that this team became confident in what they could do," said Brooks head coach Alex Konovalchik. "We feel that we have the momentum."

Brooks took over the momentum early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Jordan Johnson (92 yards rushing) went in from five yards out to even the score at 21-21.

The defense took over on the next series and Andover's Steven Domoracki tackled the Rivers quarterback in the end zone to give Brooks a 23-21 lead.

It was the second big defense play of the day for Brooks who, in the second quarter, was the beneficiary of a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown from Andover's Brian Charlebois.

"We were thrilled to get eight points from our defense," said Konovalchik. "On the interception, Brian was int eh flat and mae a nice break on the ball and picked it off.  He had to break a tackle at the 10."

Also standing out on defense for Brooks was Ryan Gibeley, who had a sack and Methuen's Jason Buco, who played well at the safety position.

Offensively, Buco scored the game's first TD and he and Johnson hocked up on a 38-yard pass.   The Charlebois interception return upped the lead to 14-0 before Rivers came back with 21.
