GROTON — Surprising Brooks improved to 2-0 with an impressive 27-16 victory at the Groton School.
Jordan Johnson led the way with 108 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well as a 35-yard TD pass to Jason Buco. Johnson's 55-yard scoring run in the third quarter was the nail in the coffin for Groton (1-1).
Brooks got off to an early lead, scoring eight points in the first quarter courtesy of Johnson's strike to Buco and took a commanding 15-0 lead in the second quarter on a 2-yard rn by Steven Domoracki, who rushed for 73 yards and also caught two passes for 31 yards.
Domoracki aso had a strong game at middle linebacker and Haverhill's Colin Lahiff had an inerception.
"We're very excited to be 2-0 and we hope to keep it going," said Brooks coach Alex Konovalchik.
For Groton, Haverhill's Brett Frongillo threw two touchdown passes and two extra-point conversions, but Brooks contained him for much of the game.
