Windham runners break the ice

Led by freshman Kate Farrell, the Windham girls cross country team captured the school's first-ever varsity title by placing first in the Sanborn Invitational.

Farrell ran the 5K course in 21:02, classmate Emma Boyd was third and sophomore Alexis Clemons was eighth as Windham scored just 29 points, 20 ahead of runner-up Campbell. Sanborn, led by individual runner-up Lexie Basiliere was fourth in the five-team field.

In the boys race, Sanborn senior Isaac Fithian captured individual honors by running 16:56 to spark the Indians to second in the eight-team field. Newmarket came in first, placing its first five runners from third to seventh, to score just 20 points.
