HAVERHILL | Pride helps teams endure challenging seasons. Pride delivered Whittier a victory yesterday.

After Lynn Tech returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown to end the first half, then opened the second half with a 55-yard drive for the go-ahead TD, the youthful Wildcats could have buckled.

But a quartet of sophomores helped stabilize the squad, leading to a 16-point run that helped Whittier prevail 32-20.

"Every game has come down to the end and we just lose it every time," Wildcat head coach Kevin Bradley said after his team snapped a four-game losing streak. "We asked for a leader at halftime (yesterday) and I'm so proud with our effort."

Sophomore Bryan Trickett was the primary offensive cog, rushing for 179 yards on 16 carries including a pair of 62-yard touchdown romps that shredded the Tigers' packed-in defense. His second long-distance dash answered Lynn Tech's comeback score to put the Wildcats (3-7) on top to stay.

Classmate Kobie Jackson furthered the momentum with an interception | one of four turnovers forced on the day. Six plays later, quarterback Dillon Ryan spotted a wide-open Cam Taylor in the end zone, hitting the senior with a 16-yard scoring strike early in the fourth.

Nick Ferreira ran for four two-point conversions, while Whittier's first TD came from junior Tyler Page on a nifty 34-yard run.

The defense was a major force, as five players each recorded sacks.
