Central Catholic freshman pitcher Kayla Maloney was impressive in her first varsity start in an 8-2 win over Lawrence. She pitched a nifty three-hitter, striking out 13 and walking just one as the Raiders qualified for the tournament by improving to 10-3. She also had two hits, including a home run, to lift her average over .400.

"She did a great job for us and we're going to need her more," said Central coach Stacy Ciccolo. 

 Brianna Martin added a solo homer for the Raiders.
