1.St. John's Prep (2-0): The season starts in earnest for the Eagles this weekend as the state's top ranked team, Everett, comes to Cronin Stadium. Last week: 1

2.Pinkerton Academy (3-0): Host a Salem team they've beaten in the last two Division 1 New Hampshire state title games this weekend. Last week: 5

3.Gloucester (2-0): After hauling in 82 points in two home blowouts to start the season, Fishermen hit the road to face a Beverly team they've lost three straight against. Last week: 3

4.Bishop Fenwick (2-0): Two road blowouts set the stage for Fenwick's first-ever night football game this Sunday against fellow unbeaten Masconomet. Last week: 7

5.Salem, N.H. (2-1): What better way to rebound from their first loss of the season than for the Blue Devils to beat the Astros at Pinkerton this weekend? Last week: 2

6.Central Catholic (1-1): Playing out of Division 1A, the Raiders would appear to have the edge at Div. 2 Foxboro Saturday. But the Warriors always put up a good fight. Last week: 6

7.Masconomet (2-0): Defense looked awfully good last weekend, but they'll have their hands full trying to stop Bobby Tarr and Fenwick on Sunday night. Last week: 9

8.Salem, Mass. (2-0): Huge confidence builder for the Witches by going down to Connecticut last weekend and beating state power Fitch. Last week: 10

9.Andover (1-1): Face a Dracut team this Friday that isn't excatly putting up huge numbers. Last week: 4

10.Beverly (1-1): Will shoot up the standings -- and become the talk of the Northeastern Conference -- if they can upset Gloucester at home this Saturday. Last week: 8

11.Hamilton-Wenham (2-0): The inside-outside tandem of senior captains Nate Masterson and Jake Cotter is getting it done on the ground for the Generals. Last week: 11

12.Swampscott (2-0): The Big Blue may not be as explosive offensively as they've been in the past, but they've been stingy defensively through two weeks. Last week: unranked

HONORABLE MENTION: Manchester Essex (2-0), Phillips Andover (0-0), Pentucket (1-1), Londonderry (2-1), Pelham (3-0).
