Big Blue defeats Exeter

EXETER | Chad Hollis took the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to put Phillips Andover on its way to a 24-14 victory over Phillips Exeter in the 127th meeting of the two schools yesterday.

"Basically, its a dream come true," said Hollis. "I saw the holes, and there was great blocking. I wanted to set the tone for the game."

Farris again hot, leads Phillips to win

ANDOVER | And the beat goes on for Derry's Bryan Farris, Haverhill's Thane Sanford and Andover's Corbin Tognoni.

Farris was 11-of-15 throwing for 226 yards and three touchdowns to lead Phillips Academy to a 21-7 victory over Worcester Academy yesterday in a game that was postponed a day due to rain.

Phillips suffers first loss

DEERFIELD, Mass. | The normally high-powered Phillips Academy offense was grounded to just one late touchdown in a 20-9 loss to Deerfield Academy. The setback was the first for the Big Blue (5-1).

Bryan Farris connected on a 47-yard field goal in the first quarter but Phillips had to wait until the final quarter to score again.

Phillips remains unbeaten

ASHBURNHAM | Phillips Academy scored 21 points in the second quarter on its way to an easy 34-6 victory over Cushing Academy, keeping the Big Blue undefeated (4-0).

Former Pinkerton Academy standout Bryan Farris completed 13 of 24 passes for two touchdowns and 286 yards, with Mike Ciummei catching seven balls for 149 yards and a TD. Dan Evans and Whittier Tech grad Thane Sanford (8 carries, 71 yards) chipped in with rushing touchdowns.

Phillips slips by Choate

ANDOVER | Bryan Farris' 44-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as Phillips Academy edged Choate, 11-8, in a battle of two undefeated teams.

After a scoreless first half and a Choate safety to open the second half, Farris got the Big Blue on the scoreboard when he found Mike Ciummei in the end zone on a 12-yard pass. Farris completed 20 of 40 for 254 yards and senior Ryan McCarthy was his favorite target on the day. The duo connected on seven passes for 107 yards. Ciummei caught six passes for 76 yards.
