Last week, he was the "other Mike" returning from injury to the Central Catholic football lineup.

Most of the time, his pals just call him "Crazy Schloss." By any name, two-way tackle Mike Schlosser, back and healthy, was a welcomed sight for Chuck Adamopoulos and the Raider coaching staff.

"It felt great to be back," said the Central senior, whose grunt work Friday night vs. Dracut at offensive tackle helped Mike Leavitt go for 133 yards on the ground in his return to the lineup. "I was so happy to be back out there."

Schlosser, like Leavitt a Raider co-captain, and his 2-2 mates get the shot to make it 2-0 in conference tonight (7 p.m.) as unbeaten Billerica invades Veterans Memorial Stadium. Victory won't come easy, but Schlosser and the Raiders appear to be getting healthy just at the right time. "I really was getting down on the sidelines," said Schlosser, whose knee is now fully recovered. "Especially in the losses."

Schlosser would like to play in college if he gets the opportunity. Here's how the two-year starter handled this week's spotlight in Football Friday:

Besides school, what makes Mike Schlosser go? "Sometimes I sack quarterbacks. Sometimes I sack groceries at the Central Plaza Market Basket in Haverhill."

Oh, you're from Haverhill, Mike. So why Central Catholic? "When I was in 7th-and-8th grade, I'd always read about Central winning in football. It's that great tradition. And I came to play football at Central."

The tradition is great, but what's the worst thing about playing football for the Raiders? "Easy, it's the triple sessions at Camp Ossipee in the preseason."

What's the one thing that would surprise us about Central football? "How intense Coach (Chuck) Adamopoulos is. Even when he wears those shorts. No seriously, he's a great coach. I love to play for him. He's like a second father to me."

You're the only senior starter on the offensive line, what's that like? "The younger guys look up to me, and I think I pick them up. They're a little more confident and play better when I'm around."

Who's the better Patriot, Tom Brady or Richard Seymour? I'll take Seymour. Any dominant defensive lineman is worth more than just a little quarterback."

You play three sports at Central, what are the goals in each? "For football, it's win every game and another conference title. For wrestling, it's to wrestle hard and win, hopefully all the way to a state (team) championship. And for spring track, I want the school shot put record. It's held by coach (Ned) Finneran (55-10), and I think I can get it."
