It wasn't easy, but Phillips Academy won twice Saturday to advance in the winner's bracket to the semifinals in the Big East tournament. After defeating St. Paul's 1-0 in the morning, the Big Blue rallied with three runs in the sixth to tie the game and then scored four times in the eighth for a 7-4 victory over Phillips Exeter. Cassidy Musco hit a home run in the second game and Andover's Hannah Cuff stayed red-hot. going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Against St. Paul's, Atkinson's Rachel Moore pitched a two-hitter, striking out 10, and Jacquelyn Harrington hit a solo home run for the only run in the game.Cuff was 2 for 3 in that game.
Brooks, meanwhile, split games, upsetting Tabor 6-1 in its opener but then falling to No. 1 seed BB&N 6-1. Jen Mills was 2 for 3 in each game for Brooks, which plays Nobles at 9 a.m. today at Phillips.
Milton and Phillips Exeter square off in the other early game with Phillips Academy and BB&N playing the winners at 11 a.m. The championship game will follow at 1:30 p.m.
