The Who had to wait. Pinkerton field hockey coach Denise Rioux was all set to leave for TD Banknorth Garden, where Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and company were scheduled to perform. Then her team went into overtime. Then another. Then another.
Finally, Jordyn Hamilton, who performed brilliantly all afternoon, scored the game-winner in triple OT (Devan Shea assisted). The No. 2 Astros prevailed 1-0. They move on to face No. 3 Exeter in the Class L semifinals Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Thankfully for Rioux, she made it to Boston for the concert.
