PETERBORO — Brian McGough tied the game in the first with a touchdown pass, then cut the Sanborn deficit to one score with a second quarter TD throw.
But the Indians could not quite keep pace, falling to unbeaten ConVal High School 35-14.
"I like the effort the guys showed," said Sanborn coach John Welch. "They made a good effort, and I was especially happy with the way McGough played at quarterback."
McGough connected on 7 of his 10 passes for 118 yards. He hit Ben Giles for an 11-yard touchdown in the first, and Matt Sarette for a 32-yard score in the second.
Always-reliable Sanborn running back Chris Hanna ran for 87 yards on 15 carries.
"McGough did a very good job throwing the ball," said Welch. "He made good decisions and threw to the open guys. But we made too many mistakes as a team, and they cost us."
