ANDOVER — Post-grad T.J. Urbanik from Pinkerton Academy took the opening kickoff back for a score and Phillips cruised past Deerfield 44-22 for its first win of the season.
Will Sirmon (10 carries, 201 yards, 3 TDs) added a 64-yard TD run later in the quarter and he added two long runs in the third. Urbanik gave the Big Blue (1-5) a 37-0 lead on a 4-yard run late in the third.
Senior defensive back Brandon Barros of North Andover had a huge game with an interception, which he returned to the 1, a sack, four passes defended and five unassisted tackles.
Junior middle linebacker Adam Cohen was credited with 12 unassisted tackles while senior safety Henry Wakelin of Andover recovered a fumble and had six tackles.
Deerfield dropped to 3-3.
"It's so nice to win. It's so much better than the alternative," said Big Blue coach Leon Modeste, whose club hosts Worcester Academy Saturday at 7 p.m.
