Odds and ends: Chapin Duke played for one of the top teams in Denver last year. She was All-ISL in field hockey last fall. ... Kaleigh Fitzpatrick was all-league in field hockey and ice hockey as a ninth grader. ... All three captains, Liz Bruno, Katie Herter and Jessica Waters, are three-sport captains. All three are hockey captains.  Herter was a field hockey captain and the other two were soccer captains. ... Prior to last season, Brooks had gone four straight seasons without ever having more than one loss.

Coach Randy Hesse (2nd year, 11-2): "We have outstanding senior leadership, but aside from the seniors the team is very young. We are going to have to learn the game from the older girls if we are to have a successful season. Our goaltender started last year playing behind a girl who went to Northwestern this year, and only got time due to injuries but is now experienced and a real leader of this team."
