Bishop Fenwick | 10 |
Austin Prep | 9 |
The second-year Bishop Fenwick girls lacrosse team has proven it can win games. Yesterday, the Crusaders showed they are capable of erasing deficits on the way to victory.
Senior captain Casey Otovic rolled around the cage after a restart and scored the game-winner | her only tally of the afternoon | with 25 seconds left as Fenwick improved to 10-0 with 10-9 win over Austin Prep.
Amelia Santos scored three goals, and Ellen O'Leary and Mary Kelleher had two apiece to help the Crusaders eliminate Austin Prep's three-goal advantage in the second half.
"They kept their heads and really battled to get the lead back," Bishop Fenwick coach Karen Guillemette said. "Our (10-0) start is great. It's a little bit of a surprise, but we've been playing together as a team."
Ali Stote had one goal and one assist and Rebecca Graves added one goal for Fenwick, which got 12 saves from goalie Jill Defrancesco.
