David Wiedenfeld scored three touchdowns to help lead Londonderry football past Portsmouth 30-20 on Friday to break a three-game losing streak.
Portsmouth grabbed an early lead after quarterback Cody Graham hit Shon Parham for a 5-yard touchdown pass, and after Londonderry responded with a 5-yard Wiedenfeld touchdown run, Portsmouth came right back with a 62-yard touchdown pass from Christian Peete to Jake Lorenz to make it 12-7 after one.
Londonderry retook the lead in the second on a 1-yard rush by Wiedenfeld, and about a minute later the Lancers extended their lead after Peter Navarro scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to make it 21-12 going into halftime.
Portsmouth tied the score at 21-21 in the third after Peete hit Graham for a 24-yard touchdown pass, but in the fourth the Lancers retook the lead for good after Wiedenfeld scored his third TD on a 2-yard run. Nick Donnelly kicked a 29-yard field goal to round out the scoring.
Wiedenfeld finished with seven catches for 108 yards receiving to go along with his 44 yards rushing, and Jake Stevens led the Lancers on the ground with 117 yards rushing on 23 carries.
Londonderry will host Merrimack next Friday at 7 p.m.
