It was a big day for North Andover wrestling yesterday and a huge one for senior Brad Drover.
The Knights had a big Merrimack Valley Conference win over Chelmsford, 35-27, defeated Dracut 45-31 and routed a strong Exeter West, R.I. team 55-18.
Drover remained undefeated on the year at 170 pounds and did it in impressive fashion by defeating Exeter West's Andrew Labrie 11-5. Labrie is a defending New England champion whose brother (also a New England champ), Christian, pinned Fritz Hoehn yesterday.
"Brad really took it to him and wrestled a great match," said North Andover coach Carl Cincotta. "It was a good day for him and for us."
Among those also wrestling well for the Knights were Peter Taylor at 113 and Matt Messina (182), who turned the tide against Chelmsford with a 3-2 decision.
SZane Melillo lost his first match of the season, at 132, when Dracut star Jon Ryan bumped up a class and took a 5-2 decision.
