NORTHFIELD — Nate Scyocurca rushed for 189 yards and scored three touchdowns as Phillips Academy pounded NMH 49-26 to snap a 13-game losing streak dating back to the 2010 season.
"It's just wonderful for the seniors," said Big Blue coach Leon Modeste. "They've really gone through some stuff but stuick together. It just clicked today."
Joey Verhaegh also had a big game with two TD passes and a TD run. NMH will be seeing Justin Aimonetti (12 tackles, 4 sacks) and Bobby Needham of North Reading (6 tackles, 2 sacks) in its sleep.
Phillips (1-3) had been relying on its passing game but NMH (0-4) was determined to take the pass away. Enter Scyocurca, who had over half of the Big Blue's 360 rushing yards.
