When Masconomet skates against Gloucester tomorrow night, they'll take the ice without having tasted victory in almost a month | since a Dec. 19 win over Lynn English. The Chieftains have had some hard luck in that stretch, which hasn't seen a game decided by more than three goals. If they're close but not quite there, what can the squad do to turn the tide in its favor?

"The big thing is just to play with passion and play for 45 minutes," said Masco coach Bill Haines. "We have stretches where we can play with anybody but we have to learn to keep that intensity for the entire game."

The 2-6-1 Chieftains will be looking to bounce back without freshman Ellie Koenig, a strong defenseman who will likely sit out this weekend's games after injuring her shoulder against Everett last weekend. Meanwhile, Jen Pino continues to emerge as one of the team's most dependable two-way players. Freshman Pam Herter had also been strong of late for a team that boasts 14 underclassmen on its 24-player roster.

"We're trying to put all the pieces together at once | on any given night getting everyone to show up," said Haines.
