The Manchester Essex girls basketball team seems to be hitting its stride as the state tournament looms near.
The Hornets captured their third straight victory last night with a 48-37 decision over North Andover. Manchester Essex boosted its record to 9-7 with the win, while North Andover slipped to 8-7 in the ultra-competitive Cape Ann League.
"We were able to attack the basket extremely well and set a very quick pace," said Hornets head coach Lauren Dubois. "We were really aggressive."
Dubois credited freshman Lizzy Ball and junior Lee Stroman for setting the aforementioned pace. The duo scored 14 points and nine points respectively and did a phenomenal job of getting into the lane.
Elsa Keefe also scored 14 points and Jordan Biggar was an effective defensive presence for the Hornets.
