When you play in a conference as tough as the Cape Ann League and you don't have any seniors on your team, odds are there will be some lopsided scores from time to time.
Rockport (2-8, 0-6) continued to experience growing pains as it fell 55-12 to visiting North Andover (6-5, 4-2).
"We came out flat, we have to bring our best game against any team in this league if we want to compete," stated Rockport head coach Steve O'Connor. "I thought we played much better on Tuesday (a deceiving 40-29 loss at North Reading where the Vikings actually led at the half)."
In total, nine Scarlet Knights scored points last night, led by Nicole Zahoruiko, who had a game-high 12 points. Angie Brunette added 10 points, Kate Boringa had eight and Erica Zahoruiko notched seven in the win.
North Andover led 15-5 after the first quarter and took a commanding 29-5 into halftime.
Rockport junior Tia Nelson scored five points while sophomore Lyla Roth had four points.
"We have some young kids and they're just learning the game," said O'Connor. "They get carried away sometimes and make mistakes. They're going to go through a process where they play games like this."
