Georgetown sophomore Sarah Erlandson threw a sparkling one-hitter, striking out 14 in a 13-0 romp over Rockport. She also helped her own cause with a single, double and triple and four RBIs as the Royals (8-8) moved within one game of qualifying for the tournament with only a game against Ipswich Thursday left to play. Sarah Osborne added four hits and four RBIs.

Sensational sophomore

Sparking Georgetown's to a 10-0 win, sophomore Sarah Erlandson absolutely dominated Manchester Essex, striking out 15 while not allowing the Hornets to record even a single hit. Fellow sophomore Kassie Barba went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to help Erlandson's cause.

Royals on a tear

The Georgetown softball team continued its turnaround season with a huge 10-4 victory over North Andover. Pitcher Sarah Erlandson had another big game, picking up the win while scattering six hits and also was 3 for 3 at the plate, scoring three times and knocking in two. Sarah Osborne chipped in with three hits and three RBIs for the Royals (5-7).

Shattering slump

Georgetown freshman Taylor Nelson broke out of a min-slump in a big way in a 6-5 win over Wilmington. She was 3 for 3 and provided the winning runs in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer that scored winning pitcher Sarah Erlandson (2 for 4), who struck out 12 and walked four while allowing just four hits.

Masconomet 8, Georgetown 7

The Royals had 17 hits to the Chieftains' 12, but late game heroics by Masconomet sealed the win. Hannah Birnie (3 for 5, double, run), Calley O'Connor (1 for 1, RBI, run), Kassie Barba (1 for 2, RBI), Sarah Osbourne (2 for 5, RBI), Sarah Erlandson ( 4 for 4, RBI, 2 runs), Lauren Kalfin (2 for 4, run), and Mel Prior (3 for 4, double, game-tying run in the seventh) all played well for the Royals. Sarah Erlandson recorded 11 strike outs.

Despite striking out 14 times against Georgetown flame-thrower Sarah Erlandson, Pentucket was able to mount a come-back in the fifth inning scoring five times with two outs to take the lead before winning, 8-4.

For the second straight game, the improved Georgetown softball team lost a 2-1 heartbreaker, this time to Newburyport. Sophomore Sarah Erlandson pitched another fine game, allowing just two hits while striking out eight and helped her own cause with two hits. Cally O'Connor (2 for 4) had an RBI for the Royals.
